Non-corporate members should aspire for advancement in their membership class by availing themselves of the Professional Examinations of the NIOB, which are normally taken during the first week in June and December of every year, or by obtaining higher academic qualifications.
A candidate with the professional qualification of MNIOB can register with CORBON after fulfilling all conditions specified in the ACT and practice as a “Fully Registered Builder”. A foreigner, whose qualifications and experience have been assessed and accepted to be of equal standard to that qualifying a candidate for corporate membership of the Institute can be registered as a “Temporarily Registered Builder”. Graduate members of NIOB can register as “Provisionally Registered Builder” and progress to Fully Registered Builder status through the Corporate Examination of NIOB and the Professional interview of CORBON.
The NIOB and CORBON work closely together in the training and retraining of Professional Builders, creating public awareness, carrying out research, curricula development, accreditations of programme of tertiary Institutions, continuing Professional Development, regulating and controlling the practice of building profession in all its aspects and ramifications in Nigeria.
